The Japanese term “Atsuikuroishi” translates to “hot black stone”. The characters for this word implies black stones (gathered from river beds) that can retain heat due to iron content. This medicinal procedure presents itself, initially, through simplicity and relaxation.
However, this method is not merely like the hot stone therapies used in many day spas across the Americas and Europe. Participants will learn appropriate stone selection based on ancient theories and modern research, topical herbal treatments and their applications used in conjunction with stone massage and finally how to use stone massage as a precursor to massage, acupressure and acupuncture and other healing modalities.
